We are building a modern/industrial townhome getting most of its light from the west. We got to see shoji & simple in the models and they just ended up looking dingy in the corners and darker areas of the home. Your home won't go unnoticed with a deep red paint color on the front door. To tone down the flashy color, choose a maroon hue surrounded by a light trim color. Here, white trim surrounds the door, windows, and porch to distinguish the entrance from its blue-green siding.

Decorative wood doors may benefit more from staining than a colorful paint job. A dark wood stain can accent intricately carved details while allowing the door's natural beauty to shine through. Here, the dark front door color picks up the brownish tones in the gray shingle siding. Love the drama of navy blue, but looking for a lighter room? Use it for an accent wall, and have your favorite white pick up the available natural light. Admiral Blue is an intensely royal navy blue that has undertones of purple and black.
Bright and cheery front door colors have their charm, but some home exteriors call for color that offers a bit more moodiness. A rich, dark hue splashed on your home's point of entry makes your exterior look polished and put-together. These striking, yet timeless hues prove your front door doesn't need to be bright to be bold. Whether your style is crisp and tailored or breezy and relaxed, these ideas for dark front door colors will give your home an entirely new look. I”m confused on which white to do on my ceilings. This is a learn-to-decorate blog, not a ‘look-what-Kylie-can-do’ blog. Here, you’ll find hundreds of articles on how to create the home of your dreams. What’s a good white/off white that will corner up to agreeable grey but has bright white basboards. It’s for a stairway, so not he best lit area? In a more broad sense, is it preferable to try to match the cabinets to the white appliances as closely as possible? I’m concerned that this will be a lot of white, even with a contrasting counter and backsplash.
Also, depending on your countertop/flooring, I might look at SW Pure White rather than Extra White as Extra White is pretty cold/sharp ;). I’m trying to choose an exterior soft white paint. I’ve narrowed it down to Alabaster and Shoji White. The guy at Sherwin Williams said that Alabaster will appear very white on the exterior so now I’m confused. The main parts of the home face south and east. Hi there, thanks for your post on which whites are best and where.

Hi Kylie, I am leaning toward Natural Choice for my North facing downstairs family room. One lighter red brick wall, dark beams on ceiling and same for mantle. Can’t decide on trim white, pure white or extra white. My daughter, who is a decorator, has convinced me to use SW pure white on everything, with flat for ceilings, eggshell for walls and semigloss for trims. I use lots of blue and whites in my decor, but I’m afraid the house will seem too stark white. I found you when trying to figure out a white to paint my kitchen cabinets – you are awesome!
Behr offers its most popular can't go wrong colors, delivered to your door with paint supplies. I was searching for a dining set to suit my new place and chanced upon choice furniture. She was friendly and was able to suggest what I really wanted. Eventually, I custom-made my dining set which arrived at the promised expected date. I am highly impressed by their service and product. Yes, we do offer a few options for pre-made trunk or treat kits.
Bright colors aren't the only way to make a statement on your front stoop. Let your front door stand out with one of these sophisticated dark hues. Metalwork gets such a boost from navy blue; these two decor elements are absolute besties! Gold and silver look stunning and elegant against the serene backdrop navy blue offers. Infants, whose eyes are still developing, are drawn to look at strong contrasts. A bold nursery like this one gives baby lots of interesting places to look!
This exterior draws on the cool, neutral hues found in the surrounding hardscape materials. A deeper shade of slate blue painted on the front door brings the entry forward to become a focal point. Just like your favorite denim, it can go with anything. To start your palette off right, you can’t go wrong putting navy blue next to other neutral colors, like whites and off-whites, creams, browns, and tans. Sea Serpent is a lighter, muted navy blue blended with slate gray. Its LRV of 7 is a couple notches lighter than some of the other colors we’ve looked at so far.
