It's crazy to me that Lindy still has to defend herself, even after the murder theory was so thoroughly debunked. It's insane that it took so long (over 30 years!) for the Northern Territories government / coroner's office to admit to the wrongdoing. I think that if I was Lindy and experienced what she experienced, I would've given up a long time ago. ' serving as 'a punchline you probably remember hearing before you knew exactly what a dingo was'.
As I came back, these people were starting to come everywhere, and he arrived, to me, just before the lady who asked if I was sending for the police. Azaria's blood-stained matinee jacket that she wore on the day of her death. B) She then left the barbecue area to place the child in the carry basket in the tent, which she claimed she carried out. There is also evidence available as to the capacities of a dingo to carry a child, inflict wounds and remove the body from the jump suit.

It is an inference that the small handprint on the child's clothing could not be any other person than Mrs. Chamberlain and there is evidence of the staining on the tracksuit and shoes. The evidence of the parties involved supported by Mr. and Mrs. Lowe is that the child Azaria Chamberlain was alive when held by her mother at the barbecue area. The evidence of Mrs. Chamberlain is that she then took the child to the tent and placed the child in its basket within the tent and returned to the barbecue area. I find that the blood staining of the tent and its contents is very minor compared with the extensive staining inside the motor vehicle.
In 1995, a third inquest was conducted which failed to determine a cause of death, resulting in an "open" finding. Lindy's experience of intense judgement and scrutiny made her a perceptive collector and archivist. Azaria's black dress is a significant, evocative and moving part of a fascinating collection.

An inference can be drawn that these scissors were used to cut the deceased's clothing. I place no weight on the argument that the subject scissors were unable to cut clothing as this was after the stud had been removed from the scissors to enable certain tests. The latest inquest, however, heard new evidence of several dingo attacks on humans, including details of how a nine-year old boy died in Queensland after being attacked in 2001. Lindy Chamberlain, then pregnant with her fourth child, was convicted of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment. Michael Chamberlain was convicted of being an accessory and given a suspended sentence. The dress divided Australia when Azaria disappeared from the campsite at Uluru in August 1980.
We tried to beat the sunset, to get the sunset on the Rock, but we missed out that night. I suppose it was three quarters of an hour after the actual sunset by the time we got there, at a guess. There were, I don’t know how many, bus-tours. It could have been anything up to eleven of them there, I guess.’ They had driven around, circling two or three times, before finding a space suitably far from the buses. No motive has been suggested or proved and there is evidence that Mrs. Chamberlain appeared to be taking care and consideration for the child on that day. On the other hand, the killing of a child by a mother is not an uncommon happening and as is evidenced by the provision in some jurisdictions for the offence of infanticide.

Lindy Chamberlain's release from jail is a significant event in episode three of The Newsreader. In the 1998 animated film The Rugrats Movie, a reporter makes a reference to this case by saying, "Is it true a dingo ate your baby?". Australian puppet-comedian Randy Feltface also referenced the event in his 2021 live show Purple Privilege, where he claimed he was "...born on the day Lindy Chamberlain's baby was eaten by a dingo." In July 2004, Frank Cole, a Melbourne pensioner, claimed that he had shot a dingo in 1980 and found a baby in its mouth.
It’s funny that you posted this because I think it happens in a lot of cases still, to this day. The story was dramatised as a television miniseries, Through My Eyes , with Miranda Otto and Craig McLachlan as the Chamberlains. This miniseries was based on Lindy's book of the same name.

It was argued that the absence of saliva was not remarkable as a witness gave evidence of heavy rain in the area. J find that the clothing was not subjected to heavy rain as there is evidence that such heavy rain would have adversely affected the blood staining on the clothing and this is not the case. This lack of dragging and presence of saliva ;s inconsistent with a dingo carrying the body a distance of some four kilometers. Thirty-two years later, Australian officials hope to finally, definitively, determine how Azaria died when the Northern Territory coroner opens a fourth inquest on Friday.
However, just because you find blood does not mean you found Azaria’s blood. Even if you find Azaria’s blood that doesn’t mean you confirmed that she was murdered. Orthotolidine is not exclusively used to detect blood. Moreover, it sometimes gives a false positives to a number of other substances. Most samples from the Chamberlain car showed signs of copper, dust, and sound deadener insulation.
