The eagle-eyed spotted that the difference lies in the patterns of the pasties. It’s possible for colour blindness to go undetected depending on severity - as it’s impossible to see the world through another person’s eyes. Every single person is unique and as a result, our brains process information differently. Depending on how you interpret colours, one person might see it one way, while the very next person who looks at it might see it differently. People are much more likely to perceive a surface as white or gray if the amount of blue varies, compared with similar changes in the amount of yellow, red or green, they added. Their findings, detailed on May 14 in the journal Current Biology, suggest the difference in perceived color has to do with how the brain perceives colors in daylight.

The light that an object reflects to the eye is a combination of both the colour of the object itself and the spectrum of the light source, which may vary. The brain is able to disentangle these two things and decide what colour the object is. Simply put, objects appear the same colour even if the light illuminating them changes – a concept known as colour constancy. One set of people is seeing the dress in bright light, while the other set is seeing it in dim light. And, our brains interpret colors differently in these two types of light.
– Cognitive Optical Illusions
A recent study found that people who are left-brain dominant tend to see colors differently than those who are right-brain dominant. The study participants were asked to look at a dress that was either white and gold or blue and black, and then answer questions about the colors they saw. The results showed that those who were left-brain dominant were more likely to see the dress as white and gold, while those who were right-brain dominant were more likely to see it as blue and black. The black and blue dress illusion is a visual illusion that has been widely circulated on the internet. The image appears to show a dress that is either black and blue, or white and gold. The illusion has been the subject of much debate, with some people claiming to see one color, and others claiming to see the other.

Take a look at the original, but stare at it for around 30 seconds. Start to really believe it’s blue and black, it will start to turn. After seeing those colors close up, my father said he kind of saw a blue tinge in the “white” section, and I realized I saw a golden tinge in the “black” section. By changing the background behind the cirlces we are forcing our brains to process the colors a certain way. Your brain figures out what colour light is bouncing off the object your eyes are looking at by subtracting that colour from the real colour of the object. The blue gold dress is also a great choice for a night out on the town.
They attributed the differences in perception to individual perception of colour constancy. On 3 March, the Johnstons, Bleasdale, and MacNeill appeared as guests on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in the United States. Holderness showed the picture to other members of the site's social media team, who immediately began arguing about the dress's colours amongst themselves.
